Good luck or I should say "Bon Voyage" to the Flankers for the trip up & down the Pyrenees - hope Alan will weigh the bergans before you start?
Also hope Bob Griff has better luck with the pretty Mesdames than he had with the young lady who tore him off a strip for climbing gates in Barnsley.
As for wee Mac, I don't believe French was on the curriculum at his "special skule" - basket-weaving & number-plates perhaps, French aural, doubtful!
Have a good, safe, journey, lads, we'll look forward to photos on your RTU.

Apologies - Guys, I must confess I have been a little slow at getting the reunion photos on the site. I have had to up-grade my computer and software and have encounter some compatibility problems with Windows 7 but nearly there.

I and the rest of the Flankers are off the Pyrenees this Sunday for 7 days to taste a bit of French life, Bob (Griffiths) tells me he is looking forward to meeting a nice RICH French women who can look after him in his fading years, for friendship only !!! I am told that Wee Mac has been brushing up his French, last spoken when he went to school in 19…. I’m sure he will get by has he always does but if anyone knows the translation for Rusty Nail please let him know.

Hopefully all of us have now received the Squadron Newsletter, dates to note are :-

70th Anniversary of the Airborne Forces on the 24th July at Merville Barracks, Colchester.

Caythorpe Reunion Weekend 3/5 September – I understand there are only 130 places available for dinner and it is suggested that returns/cheques be returned by 1st July.

Your contact at 216 is Capt Matt Wakeling on 01206 815527

I will update the website on my return from France on the 21st June.

Really sorry to hear of the sad passing of Alan De la Haye. Served with Al in the eighties when the squadron was reforming into a para role. Always remember him as a very professional airborn soldier.R.I.P Al

If, like me, you have just received your copy of the Airborne Signals Association you will have seen that on the last page it advises that tickets for the event on 24 July are available from PRA, RHQ Para, to my knowledge this is not so, the event is being run by Bde HQ - I know the PRA office have been pulling their hair out ever since it was announced in the Pegasus Journal they were the poc.

I have advised the PRA who will hopefully put 216 in the picture, in the meantime it may be prudent to put something on our website stating that the info provided is not correct – further info to follow.

Have just heard, via Facebook site, that Alan de la Haye, has died suddenly in Thailand. Alan was a SNCO in 5 AB Sigs during the 1980's, and later as SSM with 63 SAS Sig Sqn (V). He had suffered a stroke in recent weeks but was in recovery, when a brain haemorrage finally took him on 13 May.
RIP, Alan de la Haye, Airborne Brother.

Many thanks to Ralph and the team for a truely brilliant weekend, whoever dicovered the hotel struck gold. It was good to see so many old friends, (no pun intended). Even if I was greeted at the door with cries of "Harper you fat bastard". Worse, later in the evening I was chatting to someone who said "Christ you've put on some weight, I would never have recognised you" You did recognise me though" I replied. "No" he answered "John Aspinal told me who you are!" I am now having counciling for emotional trauma. Speaking of trauma, a word of caution for Mike Waterworth, Carol is now taking break dancing lessons. Twice this week I have returned home to find her in the kitchen trying to spin around on her head. You thought a swollen ankle was bad, be afraid, be very afraid, she's bound to want a partner at the next reunion. Great to see Jinxy Jenkins again, Your photo is in the post. Bernie Mcdonough sent me a photo in the post along with a letter inviting me to stay for a weekend, unfortunatly due to an oversight he forgot to enclose his address. Hmm? Congratulations to Keith on the recognition for this site which allows me to prattle on in this way. Hope everyone stays fit and well see you again soon. Jess

Hi All. I would just like to say that last weekend I successfully lead the Denbury Boys Originals round the 50th Anniversary of the Ten Tor’s Challenge. The ETA for the finish that I gave was dead on time and we did the Royal Signal proud by doing the challenge in a respectable time. I suspect that some of the team were worried as I sustained an injury just after the second Tor. But! Only one member knew what it takes to pass Para selection and that we don’t give up. The PR and the reception that we received were sufficient to make some of the team weep. It was an overwhelming experience to have so many people applauding and congratulating us. Incredible! Anyway! Hope all is well with everyone. I put some pictures on Picasa and advise you of the link. Phil Kirk
