Well, Brad, what you do on Friday night is get to the bar first and buy beers for all of us, listen to tales of derring-do (try not to fall asleep), dodge the swinging lamps, laugh at jokes you've heard 1,000 times, buy us more beer, ignore the glances of bored wives/girlfriends (you could be sorry), buy us more beer, re-arrange the sandbags, buy some crisps (we gotta eat something), and generally support your old comrades as they slide off their bar-stools. Your old chums will, without exception, line up to tell you the biggest whopper you've ever heard - "Brad, my goodness, not seen you for years, you haven't changed a bit!" Enjoy. Dear Noddy (and Wee Mac) I was somewhat surprised to discover that you had obviously confused me with another . You should have had a clear memory of me , turned out on parade ,tall ,handsome and as usual, immaculate . A parade no doubt being held to present me with some or other award or recognition speech by a notary acknowledging my unsurpassable position as the top exponent of telegraphy skills not only in the squadron but no doubt in Her Majesties Britannic forces. Also ,Wee Mac , Jankers ? moi ? .The very idea.!

Further to the recent tribulations of Arnhem Vet, Ebie Moncrieff, I've just heard that the eldest son, Popco, (born in Japanese POW camp, 1942), has died suddenly in Aberdeen, where he was receiving chemo-therapy for cancer. Having just buried Gerry, his wife of 64 years, next week will find him at yet another funeral. Ebie is bearing-up well, as you'd expect an old soldier of his generation to do, but? R.I.P.
